Our by-laws require the Board establish a Governance Committee. We are looking for potential members for this Committee. If you or anyone you know (staff member, Board member, contact [inside or outside the Federation]) has education and/or experience pertinent to the tasks of the Governance Committee and is interested in serving on the Committee, please send a brief e-mail outlining pertinent education and/or experience to Maria Monaco at memberservices@ofcmhap.on.ca The mandate of the Governance Committee is the following:The board of directors shall appoint a Governance Committee, whose mandate shall be to ensure ongoing and continuous focus on identifying, preparing and recruiting future governance leaders, including the definition of skills and attributes required in Board members. The governance committee will be responsible for orientation of new and existing Board members and training and education of the Board related to governance roles and responsibilities. The Governance Committee shall occasionally provide an assessment/evaluation of the Board, and monitoring of governance structures and processes, including policy development and processes for Board monitoring/oversight of operations. The Governance Committee will identify and recruit external resources/experts to assist the Board in its governance role and responsibilities and will identify and develop recommendations on Board conflict of interest, bylaws, policies and processes. The Governance Committee may be composed of directors, members and others who are not necessarily members of the Federation, as determined by the board of directors, from time to time. The Governance Committee shall make recommendations to the Board regarding appropriate action and assume such other responsibilities as from time to time may be delegated by the board of directors.
