Established in 1989, CHOICES provides assessment, treatment planning, counselling and referral for youth with substance abuse problems and those affected by the substance abuse of a significant other. The program is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. It is one of eight community-based mental health and addiction programs operated by the Grey Bruce Community Health Corporation.
CHOICES is based in Owen Sound and extends regular outreach to 8 other communities across Grey and Bruce counties. Program staff work closely with other health and social services which serve youth and their families.
The Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the program. Position duties include staff supervision, service planning and coordination, community development and public relations. The Program Director also provides senior practitioner clinical services for selected program clients. The position requires regular travel throughout a large rural catchment area. Work hours are somewhat variable and some evening work is required. The position is available effective May 15.
